Ruth Banton

With over two decades of experience in a demanding and people-focused industry, I bring strong communication, leadership, and advocacy skills to my role as Director at Lite-Waves. My work is grounded in empathy, active listening, and a firm commitment to supporting those who often go unheard.

Driven by a personal mission to uplift the less fortunate, I’ve spent years advocating for individuals facing inequality and hardship and for individuals who may not always have a voice. My personal goal has always been to support those who are less fortunate. As a longstanding union representative, I’ve championed the rights of vulnerable workers, ensuring fairness, dignity, and support in complex situations. These values continue to guide my work at Lite-Waves, where I oversee HR, recruitment, and lead on policy and strategy through my role as Director and chair in key meetings.

At Lite-Waves, I help create safe, inclusive spaces that prioritise emotional wellbeing, early intervention, and access to support—particularly for those who are often marginalised or misunderstood. I believe in treating people as individuals and work hard to understand their experiences so I can offer the right kind of support.

My journey with Lite-Waves is deeply rooted in a passion for social justice and community-led change. I’m committed to being a part of an organisation that creates inclusive, safe spaces that support emotional wellbeing, early intervention, and sustainable outcomes for young people and families. I take pride in working with a team that shares this vision – empowering communities, tackling disadvantage, and fostering resilience where it’s needed most.

My background has taught me the value of listening deeply, responding with care, and creating systems where everyone feels seen and heard. I’m proud to be part of a team that’s dedicated to breaking cycles of disadvantage and empowering individuals and families to build healthier, more connected lives.

Outside of work, I enjoy travelling, listening to music, and socialising – activities that help me stay grounded and connected to different people and perspectives.
