We see what we do as part of the solution of ‘breaking the cycle of abuse and failure to thrive’ within our community. We do this by supporting young people and their families educationally, emotionally and mentally. Thus empowering them to deal with their experiences, and share positive practices, concerning life skills and personal development; giving them the tools and assistance required to put behind them negative experiences which allows them to remain upbeat and thus create positive changes. In effect we use life events to help young people and their families to understand the ‘why’s’ of happenings in their lives we then introduce experiences that encourage them to take responsibility for their ‘now’ life choices
In essence, the programme utilizes life experiences and encourages young people and their families to reflect upon them and find a place to use them to accomplish positive change. Sensitive issues such as substance misuse and abusive relationships are tackled, as well as, life style choices, the school system and elements of the environment that have a big impact on life (e.g. music, internet, & homelessness).
